Halloween Makeup Tutorial: Zombie

zombie makeup tutorial

I, like many (if not most, judging by the popularity of the show) am obsessed with The Walking Dead. Watching the show is one of the few times that I actually wish I didn’t live alone because I often go to bed with my mind still reeling, and, of course, any time I hear a crack in the wall or a noise in the bathroom I’m all “where’s my giant knife?!” But I digress, because right now I’m ALL ABOUT THIS ZOMBIE LOOK that I created with M∙A∙C Cosmetics Senior Artist Caroline Hernandez.

This “walker” face is actually very easy and you can do it mostly with makeup that you already own! Here’s how to get the zombie look…

Fall always brings out the “hey guys, try these ‘awesome’ pumpkin product” beauty stories and, to be honest, it can get kind of nauseating.  Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean that EVERY pumpkin product in existence is the best thing EVER.  So, after years of testing out all products pumpkin, i bring to you my favorite four pumpkin-based products.  I promise you, these are all good and won’t make you want to throw out all your Halloween candy.

Halloween 2013 Villains Party

Cruella de vil costume

Wig, long cigarette holder, red gloves, faux fur wrap c/o Express, Black dress (old), Phoebe envelope clutch c/o Sole Society

When my friends decided to choose a “villains” theme for their 4th annual Halloween party, I was insanely excited.  Mostly because, by coincidence, I was already planning to dress up as Cruella De Vil, famous puppy killer.  And, of course, I knew that the lovely team at MAC Cosmetics would be able to help me out with Cruella’s famous eyebrows and face- nailed it.

A Very MAC (Cosmetics) Halloween

Mac Monsters

I stopped by the MAC Cosmetics PRO store on Robertson Blvd. the other day to chat with Rick Baker and check out his collection for MAC. Now, obviously, MAC is known for being the go-to Halloween makeup brand since they have some truly amazing products that boast rich pigment and long wear, which is why it’s no surprise that I was truly in AWE of the three looks that Rick and MAC came up with for Halloween 2013.  By the way, these makeup looks were done with just MAC makeup, no plastics or additional costume products, which is insane!  I spoke to Rick, legendary Hollywood makeup artist, about his favorite MAC products to use on set.  The answer?  “Makeup effects demand very specific products as many ordinary makeup products won’t work on rubber appliances.  If I am doing paint makeup, I like to use Chromacakes, Paint Stick and MAC’s acrylic paint.  I also like a combination of mixing medium and cosmetic pigments.”
