Ahhhh, VALENTINE’S DAY. It’s a day when people are either really, really happy and giddy or like realllly sad and depressed, which is just really dumb, in my opinion. REALLY. I can’t even believe that this is the FIFTH Anti-Valentine’s Day gift guide that I’m doing (first, second, third, fourth)…and I want to be clear, I don’t hate Valentine’s Day, I just think we should celebrate our loved ones (and ourselves!) EVERY DAY, not just on February 14th. This gift guide is really just a little list of what I want/what I’ll be doing on the day where florists make most of their money every year…get at it.
1. I Love U More Than French Fries Card// French fries are my weakness and I would totally buy this card for myself…but it also makes sense to send to anyone in my family or one of my BFFs.
2. Jayson Home Pyrite Heart// I’ve always been amazed at the fact that people actually buy paper weights…does that mean they don’t have enough random shit already to hold down their papers? Maybe. Regardless, I think this pyrite heart is super pretty and I want it for my desk.
4. Pasta and Wine// I feel like this one needs no explanation, but I’m reminded of what LADY GAGA once said about Valentine’s Day…and you can fill in the blanks.
5. Never Have I Ever: My Life (So Far) Without a Date// I recently finished reading this book where the author tells tales about her close call relationships. It’s funny, and relatable, and will make you less suicidal if you’re single on Vday.
6. DIY Terrarium// I included a terrarium in my own holiday wish list this past Christmas and yeah, it hasn’t happened yet but I’m thinking Friday (Valentine’s Day) might be a good day to get down to business.
I laughed out loud after spotting this guide to drugstore razors, mostly because I don’t even know what kind of razor I’m using right now and it’s about time someone reviewed all the options we have! – Byrdie.com
Truth be told, I’ve never been a big fan of VALENTINE’S DAY (Anti Valentine’s Day Gift Guide 2014 to come) and all of the forced “love” that goes along with it…I mean, shouldn’t we love our friends, families and significant others EVERY day? All that aside, one of my favorite Valentine’s Day memories is from college. I had a really rough day in class and I came back to my dorm room and found a dozen red roses from my dad. It was a really sweet gesture and definitely made up for the fact that my day royally sucked otherwise. But I digress, and I’ll save the ranting for a different post. What I AM a fan of is new apps, especially when they involve letting me create fun things to send my friends and family.
My new favorite app, justWink, has nearly 675 card options to choose from, as well as the ability to add your actual signature, photos, etc. and can be sent via text, email, Facebook or Twitter, really giving you no excuse not to send a Valentine or two. Another feature that I really love is the fact that you can actually have the card send to someone via (gasp) snail mail for only $3.49, which is way less than actual greeting cards cost in store. This feature only takes about 3-5 days and you can even attach a gift card!

I’ve never been a big fan of Valentine’s Day (case and point here, here, here and here), but when Annette, Rachael and I decided to throw a little GALentine’s party, I couldn’t say no. In true Jamie form, I’m clearly telling an inappropriate story in the above photo, but I had to share this pic because I LOVE our real smiles/laughs. Isn’t that was a GALentine’s party is all about? Body part stories aside, we did manage to get some great photos, so let us know what you think in the comments below…and have a happy Valentine’s Day.
Pouring the bubbly. We used Sophia Coppola’s super girly Blanc de Blanc
Of course, I made sure we were all properly red-lipped
Pink donuts of all sizes to bite on
Cheers!
We all loved Rachael’s gorgeous gold-rimmed champagne coupes. Can you even?
And now, we get to making our DIY Valentine’s Day cards…
