I know that every year brings tons of new trends, some old and some new, but this year seemed to just REALLY stand out to me in terms of beauty…
Here are some of my favorite beauty trends of 2014, including Lauren Conrad’s fabulous non-mom bob above. LOVE.
FLASH TATTOOS: I loved these for summer. (IMAGE)
THE BUTT SELFIE: Kim didn’t officially break the internet but everyone was pretty excited to see her butt (again- why is this still news?) and, of course, Chelsea Handler’s version of her photo. Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, Heidi Klum and Khloe Kardashian also joined in on the butt selfie trend. (IMAGE)
PURPLE HAIR: Nicole Richie makes purple hair look GOOD. Kelly Osbourne, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry also worked the lilac hair trend. (IMAGE)
AT-HOME BEAUTY SERVICE APPS: Priv is probably the best thing I’ve tried in a LONG time. I actually just used it for the first time a few nights ago…I got a massage at 11pm. Yep, how weird/awesome is that?
KOREAN BEAUTY PRODUCTS: My girl Amber did a series of Korean beauty posts while traveling that I was extremely excited about it. Asian beauty products in general, but especially products from Korea, have been known for years as being superior due to different ingredient restrictions and some innovative technology. I’m on board.
OVER-LINED LIPS: Kylie Jenner has been ostracized in the media for months over whether she DID or DIDN’T have lip injections. Personally, I opt for DIDN’T. To me (and most makeup artists I’ve spoken to about this), it seems like she just over-lines her top lips and then fills it in with some lip color. It’s not rocket science guys…it used to actually be called “hot mess.” (IMAGE)
