Toning It Up in Malibu

Because Malibu. Just Malibu…

I’ve been on a real workout kick these past few weeks so when PRIV invited me to do a workout class with the Tone It Up girls in Malibu at the Kia Beach House, I obviously said a big fat YES.  For one, I try to find any excuse to go to Malibu, but I also really LOVE the Tone It Up girls and, like I told them, their 20 minute HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout is my go-to for when I really don’t want to work out but convince myself that 20 minutes is doable (a.k.a suck it up, girl).

In case you didn’t already know, working out in the sand is REALLY hard. Like wow, hard.

That’s me (profusely hot and sweaty) front row all the way over waring neon green!  At this moment I’m wondering how much longer this workout is going to last and when I can get my nails done and PRIV massage. 🙂

My hair looks crazy here but it was so great talking to Karena and Katrina about all the fun things they have coming out for Tone It Up members, like myself.

A big part of the Tone It Up lifestyle is their nutrition plan, which is awesome, and Chef Alex Williams prepared some really healthy food for us to eat, post workout. The TIU recipe below is also AMAZING and highly recommended by me!

The Sweet Summer Watermelon Salad from the Tone It Up Girls!

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of watermelon, cubed
  • 1/4 cup of thinly sliced red-onion
  • 1 cucumber, sliced & halved
  • 2 cups of arugula
  • Bunch of fresh mint, julienned
  • 1/4 cup of feta cheese or crumbled tofu
  • 3/4 cup of high quality balsamic vinegar

Directions:

  • Start by heating the vinegar in a pan over medium heat for 6 to 7 minutes, or until it reduces to a thick, syrup-like consistency (when making reductions, it’s always best to use a shallow pan and to keep it uncovered)
  • Once desired thickness has been reached, remove from heat and allow to cool. Meanwhile, add all remaining ingredients together in a bowl
  • Drizzle with room temperature reduction immediately before serving
