Kim Kardashian Hosts Midori Makeover Parlour

As much as you probably hate to admit it, the Kardashian empire is totally fascinating.  Admit it.  Kim has managed to, as Kanye puts it via song, become a “superstar from a home movie” so yeah, I’ll go and watch her host a beauty event for charity.  On Tuesday, Kim Kardashian hosted the Midori Makeover Parlour at the chic Fred Segal Salon in Santa Monica.  Dressed in a plunging green velvet Gucci dress and gold Tom Ford stilettos, Kim spent the evening hanging out with her mom, Kris, and mingling with partygoers. Guests received custom couture manicures inspired by Midori cocktails, including the Midori & Ginger Glitterbomb, and hair styling while enjoying Midori cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

It’s a sweet, sweet life for those Kardashians…but what’s Kim’s best beauty secret?  Taking care of herself.  She is “always excercising, washing off her makeup before bed, etc.” the reality star said.  She even woke up early on the day of the event to squeeze in a workout with her trainer, Gunner Peterson, before leaving again this morning to head to Philly.

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Mirror Moments campaign

So you all know I’m a sucker for a beauty company that incorporates charity into their campaigns.  Angela Kinsey, who also plays “Angela” on The Office, played Nice ‘n Easy’s “Guardian Girlfriend” (aka Gigi), and actually stood in New York City’s Grand Central Station last week to surprise those who passed by via an interactive mirror.  Hilarious.  This is why I miss New York, people.  When women (and some men!) stopped to check out their reflection, Angela magically appeared to give them hair color feedback and tips.  Shock therapy anyone?  I can only imagine the crazy reactions that people had.

Naturally, Clairol compiled all the amazing reactions into a video.  DUH.  Bonus?  Each time the video is shared, Nice ‘n Easy will donate $1 to Dress for Success (up to $50,000) and they’ll also donate their product to the charity to help women look their best.  You really can’t beat a ridiculous video and charity.

Also, make sure to read my good friend Aly’s review of the campaign…um, does she not look just like Angela?!

Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Powerful video contest

So I’m really loving this new campaign from Bobbi Brown.  This spring, Bobbi is launching a campaign called Pretty Powerful, celebrating Bobbi’s belief that all women possess natural beauty, and with the right tools, are empowered to a higher level of pretty.  The campaign will feature real women, or “Friends of Bobbi,” and their before/after photos, videos and testimonials as the centerpiece content of the campaign, which will live on BobbiBrownCosmetics.com/prettypowerful.

As part of the campaign, Bobbi Brown will be launching a video contest- she wants to hear how YOU go from “pretty” to “POWERFUL” while using Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.  Now through February 9th, makeup devotees are invited to share their stroies and tips via video.

What do you win?  15 finalists will win a personalized selection of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and the new Color Stripscollection to create a second Pretty Powerful video submission.  In March, the gallery of finalist videos will be open to public voting on Bobbi’s site.  Bobbi will then hand pick three grand prize winners, who will be flown to New York City for a master class and brunch with Bobbi!

A bonus?  For every vote cast in the contest, Bobbi Brown will donate $1 to Dress for Success– an organization that provides underprivileged women with interview suits and career development advice!
