Since I recently bought the new MacBook Air, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of finding the cutest laptop case EVER. I haven’t purchased one yet but I’m leaning towards number two. What do you guys think? I also found five options that are all under $100 because, really, who wants to spend more than that on a laptop case?
Starting a new Friday tradition…yay! I find that I always have a LONG list of “to-do” items nearly every weekend so I decided to start assigning projects to my readers as well, just kidding. Sort of, but not really. Take these six ideas (3 per day) as nice “suggestions” that would really just ADD to your weekend experience. With out any further ado…
New video series! Woo! One of my favorite things to do is to pick out beauty products for my friends and family, fact. After a bit of thinking, I figured, hey, why not film me in action! Laugh if you will, but my girl Kristen and I had a majorly fun time filming at my friend Sal’s house (hence, the Louise cameo).
I’ll never forget my first drunk shopping experience…it was during college, obviously.
I remember going for happy hour in downtown New York City and then deciding that trying on pants at Express would be a GREAT idea. Now, normally trying on pants is my least favorite thing in the world to do, so it actually does make some sense that I’d want to do this after having a few cocktails. I ended up buying two pairs of pants, going home, passing out and waking up in the morning only to see my new pants. Turns out, they actually ended up being awesome pants that actually looked good and I actually wore them. That’s the thing about shopping under the influence- sometimes you get lucky and end up with something awesome and then other times…you end up with something totally ridiculous.
Case and point, my other UTI (under the influence) shopping scores:
Rosetta Stone (Italian): In theory, this was actually a fantastic purchase since I’ve been wanting to become fluent in Italian for years, but the fact that this cost $600 makes it a bad purchase. BAD. BAD, Jamie.
Festivus For the Rest Of Us “Seinfeld” shirt: This is my personal favorite. I loveeee “Seinfeld” and I got it in my head that I was going to celebrate Festivus (yeah, I don’t even know) so, obviously, I needed a shirt. Unfortunately, I didn’t seem to remember the fact that Delia*s is a store for TEENAGERS and my medium t-shirt is basically a crop top on me. I would’ve returned it but the shipping costs more than the actual shirt…so it sits in my dresser to this day.
Crystal Table Lamp: Ah, furniture pieces- another dangerous area. I bought a similar lamp (no longer available on Overstock.com) thinking that I would put it on the side table by my couch…well, I don’t have a side table, and I never did. The lamp currently sits (bulb-less) on my kitchen counter.
What have you guys purchased while boozed up? Tell me everything.
After an impromptu happy hour at my friend Sal’s house last week, I realized that I haven’t been doing enough personal posts. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t exactly ME who came to this realization but instead, it was Sal and Kristen doing a lot of “girl, you gots to write more personal stuff up on that blog! That’s what people want to read!” So yeah, I decided that I will dedicate one post per week to something a little more intimate than my beauty, lifestyle, shopping round ups, etc. Not to say that even those posts don’t exude my snark and self-deprecation, because oooh they do, but I agree with Sal and Kristen that the quarter life crisis is more than just the fun stuff- it’s the real stuff…and it’s who I really am.
Last night I went to my friend Jamie C’s “marriage celebration” and it was just the most beautiful thing. I’ve been having a weird time lately with the abomination otherwise known as “dating” and just seeing the love between Jamie and her new husband is completely and utterly inspiring; you can actually SEE how much they care about each other and that gives me hope and a mind refresher that I shouldn’t be settling for a guy who calls me a retard or doesn’t return my text messages (yes, at 30, I’m embarrassed to admit that the first part actually did happen recently).

Another exciting update (or maybe not so exciting, if you don’t get excited by furniture, like I now do): I finally decided to get a desk for my home “office.” What’s great about this “desk” is that it can (and WILL) also double as a dinner table, something that I haven’t had for the past four years while living in Los Angeles. Come to think of it, I actually didn’t have a table in ANY of my New York City apartments either, so I guess we could go as far as saying this is my first ever table purchase. Gemma, of course, made herself right at home. I’m not officially done styling my desk yet, but we’re off to a good start, no?
