A Good Strapless Bra? A MUST.

I was Maid of Honor in my best friend’s wedding back in August and as anyone who’s ever visited New York in August knows, August is hot, humid and disgusting.  In the midst of spraying my hair down with Elnett and making sure my eyeliner wasn’t running down my face, I realized that the strapless bra I was wearing was completely worn down and stretched out.  Gross.  I realized, yes, it was time to investigate…what brand actually makes the best strapless bra?  Well, right now I’m loving two:

Frederick’s of Hollywood Exxtreme Cleavage Strapless Bra: I’ve raved about this bra to all of my friends because not only does it give you some lift but it totally stays in place – like does not move.

Jezebel Lace Attraction Strapless Bra: This version is for someone who doesn’t need or want the extreme cleavage boost, which is sometimes not so appropriate.  It’s light, supports the chest and converts in seven different ways.

This Week’s Online Shopping Haul

So yeah, I went a little nuts this week with the online shopping but I totally blame my co-worker/friend Sharon, she is a BAD influence and will never tell me not to buy something.  Shame Sharon, shame!  Seriously, her Twitter profile even says “shopaholic”!  Anyway, here’s what I bought this week and why/how I rationalized my purchases to myself.  Now, if you excuse me, I’ll be prowling Zappos for a new black pump…

Levi’s GWI Trucker Jacket: I haven’t owned a jean jacket since the 90s but with LA’s warm/sometimes chilly at night weather, I’ve been craving the classic look.  The problem being my abnormally long torso.  Well, co-worker/friend Sharon has a cute darker version of the same jacket and she was nice enough to let me try it on…a few days later, I was clicking “place order” on Piperlime.  As a bonus, it’s one of Rachel Bilson’s “picks” this month and she rarely gets it wrong.

BCBG Generation Leopard Pony Heels: I saw these cute heels on a fashion blog (that I can’t remember now!) and thought they were leopard done right.  I haven’t worn them yet but they’re a great statement show for any LBD.

Mini iPhone Dock: My co-workers weren’t nearly as excited about this purhchase as I was but I found this amazing mini dock online after watching my cat, Angel, bat around my iPhone cord for the 50th time.  This dock is great because it works in the wall OR in your laptop.  I’m pretty obsessed with it’s minimalistic style.  No cords, no clutter…very feng shui.

bebe Mini Pleated Satin Dress: Say what you will, I love bebe dresses.  They make some sexy, curve-accentuating party dresses and I fell in love with this bright blue number after seeing it on bebe.com.  Plus, I’m thinking about maybe dressing up as a “devil in a blue dress” for one of my Halloween costumes this year.  Stay tuned…

House of Harlow 1960 Leather Station Necklace: Break my heart.  I had this necklace.  I loved this necklace.  I left this necklace my friend’s house and now they can’t find it.  They’re BOYS, after all.  After the necklace was MIA for almost two months, I caved when I saw that Nordstrom.com re-stocked this classic HOH design.  Sigh…totally saving the receipt, just in case.

2011 Emmys Fashion Favorites

Red.

This girl likes red.  Nina Dobrev, Kerry Washington and Lea Michele led the red trend on the red carpet.

Dark Sparkle.

Emily Blunt, Claire Danes and Evan Rachel Wood did the dramatic sparkle, which I adore, in three different ways.

Emmy Facials at Kate Somerville

When you live in Los Angeles, it’s really hard not to catch Emmy fever.  Even though I’m not actually attending the Emmys this year (or last year, or the year before that), I still use this “Emmy week” as a reminder that hey, I really need a facial to get my skin “red carpet-ready,” even if the red carpet is really just my tan carpet that resides inside my apartment.

On Thursday night, I was treated to the signature Kate facial at LA’s infamous Kate Somerville Clinic in West Hollywood in honor of the award show and ugh, yeah…boy did I need it.  First, let me say I’m in love with the signature facial – it starts off with enzymatic exfoliation and extractions followed by a customized treatment mask.  I, my friends, had way more extractions that I normally do which did not make this girl happy one bit!  But, on the bright side my dry, sensitive skin does really well with Kate’s products (as you can read here) and when I left I was super excited to receive a few of the newer products including the True Lash Lash Enhancing Eye Makeup Remover so stay tuned for a review on that soon.

Violent Lips

A little shocking at first but when you see these “lip tattoos” actually ON someone’s lips, they’re pretty amazing.  Obviously, I’m loving the leopard version and what’s really cool about these temporary lip appliques is that they actually contain vitamins that will help moisturize and condition your lips while they’re on.  I’m thinking on what Halloween costume would work with a different version now…

L.A.M.B Spring 2012 RTW

We all know that my love for Gwen Stefani runs deep which is why it should be no surprise how much I looooved her L.A.M.B Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection that debuted in NYC a few days ago.  Here are my top picks below and you can see the full collection here.

OBSESSED: Lanvin Cutout Heel Pump

Every once in awhile there’s a shoe that I look at as art over foot wear and this is definitely one of them.  Straight off the Fall 2010 Lanvin runway, these cutout heels are honestly just the coolest things ever.  I really hope Steve Madden knocks them off ASAP so I’m not forced to spend $1,607 AND so I can be four and half inches closer to heaven.
