Bachelorette 101: Bachelorette Party Gifts For the Bride

As I mentioned back in January, my best friend is getting married this August and I’m the Maid of Honor!  I admit, I’m a wedding rookie but since I consider myself a creative person with above average internet research skills, I felt pretty confident that I’d be able to throw a killer bachelorette party and do all my other MOH duties.  Oh yeah, I’m even getting down with the “MOH” abbreviations!  Anyway, the bride-to-be, like myself, isn’t into the whole cheesy put a penis on everything theme (thank god) but I still want to give her a traditional bach party…so what’s a MOH to do?  Well here’s what I’ll be gifting the bride…make sure to check back for pics from the actual bachelorette party in Atlantic City (weekend of July 8th!) and the actual wedding in Westchester County, NY (weekend of August 12th!).

Frederick’s Perfect Present Bra: All the “bride” rhinestone-encrusted tank tops kinda make me sick so when I saw this super cute, yet still totally sexy “perfect present” bra and panty set, I knew my girl D had to have it.  Plus, it’s got blue so the whole “something old, something new” thing is covered.

White Trash Sex Coupons: I think it’s super important to one, give something funny and personal to the bride and two, keep the personal gift within your sense of humor(s).  D and I have been sharing laughs for the last 13 years and we’ve had many inside jokes within the white trash rhealm.  If you don’t get it, that’s ok…but I know D will die when she sees this.

Booty Parlor Don’t Stop Massage Candle: You know I had to incorporate some beauty into my gifts.  This candle isn’t just any ordinary candle…it’s also massage lotion, once the candle has melted the wax down a bit.  It smells of exotic sandalwood vanilla (love) and the wax actually has good-for-you ingredients like shea butter, jojoba and vitamins A and E.

CoverGirl Beauty Bar for the MTV Movie Awards

I’ll never say no to an event lounge…and I’ll especially never say no when the lounge is hosted by one of my favorite brands, like CoverGirl.  The MTV Movie Awards were a slight blip on my radar this year, but not really that important since it’s pretty much guaranteed that the awards will be overtaken by Twilight and Harry Potter (and after watching, I was obviously right) so yeah, I was excited to check out what the CoverGirl Beauty Bar, hosted at NINE ZERO ONE salon in West Hollywood, had to offer.

Luckily, my friend Kelsi was working her social media thing in the HPNOTIQ Harmonie lounge, which just might have been the cutest lounge I’ve ever seen.  Seriously, I’m not even really into the whole girlie girl decor thing but everything was purple and sparkly and there were cupcakes and candy everywhere – as someone on a very strict diet at the moment, I had a very hard time controling myself and yes, I did indulge in this ridiculous oreo cheesecake pop that Kelsi said was “truly amazing.”

Annnyway, there was also a CoverGirl makeup area (with the fabulous Amy Nadine!), a FakeBake spray tan room and WELLA hair care was there (another personal favorite!) on top of random celeb spottings like Rumer Willis, Karina Smirnoff, Stephanie Pratt, Demi Lovato, and the the cute cheerleader from The Hard Times of RJ Berger!

This Week’s Online Shopping Haul

For me, this week has been just a little bit crazy.  I never considered myself a “stress shopper” but alas, I think I might just be that since last night happened.  I decided that I was going to buy myself four things that I’ve been coveting but haven’t had the, for lack of a better word, balls to actually buy myself.  You know what?  I deserve it.  And I can’t wait for everything to arrive…god bless online shopping.

Jessica Elliot Double Floating Finger Candy Ring: My friend Chelsea had a similar ring that she scored from Forever21; however, they’re totally sold out so of course, I am forced to buy the version that costs $175.  C’est la vie.

Weekend trip to Las Vegas(!): My good friend Maura was assigned a spa story that just so happens to be located in Vegaaaaas (she’s a very fancy Lucky magazine senior editor) so she asked me if I wanted to come out a few days early to hang with her.  Actually, her exact email said “don’t you LA people go to Vegas like every weekend?”  Yes Maura, we most certainly want to. And this time, we WILL.  I bought a Delta flight going to Vegas and a Spirit (?) airlines ticket for the way back to LA.  The “?” after Spirit indicates my desire to not crash and die since I’ve never heard of this airline.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica: I blogged about this a-pause-mazing moisturizer back in March after receiving a few mini samples of the product and absolutely loving it.  My skin is like the sahara 90% of the time and this is the first moisturizer in a looong time to actually do the trick, which is exactly why I don’t mind spending my actual hard-earned money on this product.  And note, I hardly ever actually buy my own beauty products so that should say a LOT.

T by Alexander Wang One Shoulder Dress: I bought this dress in the “sage” green color about two weeks ago after trying the dress on at Fred Segal.  I wore the sage version to Soho House the other night and loved it so much that I decided I needed the black version as well.  A woman can never have too many LBD’s, you know?

Memorial Day 2011

Ah, Memorial Day weekend.  I’ve never been one to really enjoy a holiday weekend, with the exception of the extra day off from work, naturally.  Don’t get me wrong, in theory a long weekend should be glorious but in my experience, they are always built up to be “the best time ever” and you ultimately end up being let down.  This past weekend, however, was super fun.  Sydne and I were practically glued at the hip and we had a blast going out in Hollywood and getting sushi at Omi (aka our favorite cheap sushi spot), going to a fun Hollywood Hills BBQ and then ending the holiday weekend with a little biking/drinking on the strand in Hermosa Beach.  Seem like a lot to fit into three days?  Yeah, it was.  I’m exhausted but perhaps a little optimistic that future holiday weekends won’t be the disaster that they’ve been in the past.
