Katherine Heigl quits smoking cigarettes AND helps animals!

So, if you know me at all, you know how I feel about cigarettes.  I hate them….and really, hate isn’t even a strong enough word.  Cigarettes are vile.  But I digress,  I won’t go on anti-smoking rant but I will say that if you are looking for a healhtier alternative to cigarettes, SmokeStik might be a good option for you.  I’ve been noticing a lot of people in LA using this revolutionary new device which, yes, looks exactly like a cigarette but eliminates the cancer-causing agents that cigarettes contain like tar, carcinogens and tabacco.  The only thing you’re getting from SmokeStik is water vapor and nicotine — so yes, you will still have the addiction but hey, at least you’re not slowly giving yourself cancer, right?  Since I don’t smoke, I can’t say whether or not this helps with quitting (and I would assume it doesn’t since it still contains nicotine) but it’s definitely a healthier alternative to cigarettes that any smoker should consider.  I got my sister a SmokeStik for Christmas and she’s been using (and loving) it since!

Katherine Heigl, actress and animal-lover, recently announced her endorsement of the product and even designed her own SmokeStik called The Pitbull – proceeds from her SmokeStik will go to her dog rescue foundation, The Compassion Revolution!

L’Oreal The One Sweep Eye Shadow

So my makeup routine is lazy, at best.  In fact, I only started wearing any kind of foundation about three years ago when I battled a little adult acne and it became a necessity to cover it up.  My laziness and, quite frankly, my resistance to wear eye shadow is actually helped out with this really smart new product from L’Oreal- The One Sweep Eye Shadow.  What’s brilliant about it is that the colors are already in place so that all you have to do is rub the brush onto the color, apply to your eye and boom- your eye shadow is done for the day.  In all honesty you do have to really rub the brush onto the color and practice a bit before it actually works but I’m starting to get the hang of it and I’ve been wearing the “Playful for All Eyes” shade, which is a really pretty neutral brown.   It’s the lazy girl’s total dream…

Three Questions With Amanda Peet

So I recently got the chance to interview actress Amanda Peet on her collaboration with Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips, my new obsession.  Over the years I’ve dabbled with a few different white strips and have been unsuccessful 90% of the time…until now.  What I love the most about these is the slogan “a brigher smile when you need it, no planning required” because let’s be honest, I’m never going to say “hey, it’s Sunday, time to whiten my teeth!”  That’s not realistic at all.  What is realistic is that the product promises noticeably whiter teeth after just one two hour treatment and it lasts for up to three months.

And with all that said, Amanda Peet took  the time to sit down with me and answer a few of my burning questions.  I have to say, after several celeb interviews, Amanda was refreshingly awesome and funny.  We chatted about everything from lip injections (she yelled “don’t touch it!” when I told her I have a small upper lip) to her favorite drink (a really good dirty martini) to how hot and amazing Ben Affleck is- she’s done two movies with him.

Q: What drew you in to partner with Crest?

A: I’m a really busy mom and a born multi-tasker…I thought the product was really incredible.  I don’t like to wear of lot of makeup so it’s really an incredible beauty tip.  It’s perfect for going on a date and you want to look a little bit more amazing…you can just throw them on and you’re done.

Q: What are your other beauty product secrets?

A: Tweezerman Tweezers, a really good blush (Amanda likes CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow) and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.

Q: If you could give any advice to your 22-year-old self, what would it be?

A: Dont worry too much, be single, be explorative, travel, sleep and drink (laughs all around).

Birthday highlights and a Head Refresher

So I got my highlights touched up the other day at Nelson J Salon in Beverly Hills.  The color?  Amazing.  What’s even better is that they use Aveda’s specal dye that is bleach-free and 97% natural…I mean, I’ve been really into the whole “natural” thing lately and I have to say, I’m very happy with the results.  Nelson Chan, the owner, was extremely nice and even took the time to show me how to use hot rolllers which, ironically, I’ve never used.  Hot rollers are a lot better for your hair, and especially if you have extensions, like I do at the moment.

If you’re in the LA area, I definitely say stop into Nelson J and ask for the Head Refresher, which is what originally caught my eye at this salon. This unique service includes Aveda’s 99% natural hair gloss, a relaxing rosemary and mint-oil scalp and head massage, along with a signature Nelson J blow out.
“This Aveda hair gloss is wonderful because it makes hair very shiny and also refreshes hair color for up to two months,” Chan says.  “Plus clients get into a state of bliss with the Aveda rosemary and mint-oil applied to their scalp combined with the relaxing head massage.”

Good news- the Head Refresher is on sale now until April 1st for only $49!  It usually goes for $100.  🙂
