JNY Style Miles: Entertain in style without breaking the bank

So this will be my first Thanksgiving in 26 years that I haven’t spent with my family.  Don’t get me wrong, I know Thanksgiving really isn’t that big of a deal but it’s really just starting to hit me that I’ll be missing out on all the antics over in New York.  However, I’ve been invited to what we’re now referring to as “an Ohio Thanksgiving” right here in Los Angeles,LOL, where I’ll be dining Silverlake style with several Ohio refugees.  I know.  Anyway, in the video above, JNY Style Guy, Lloyd Boston, works with Carly Zipp from Real Simple magazine to show some super cute party ideas that are all budget-friendly.  Still don’t know what I should bring to the Ohio Thanksgiving…any ideas?

The Carrie Diaries (revealed)!

So People.com just broke the news on The Carrie Diaries, and we all die.  Sadly Sex and the City 2 isn’t scheduled to come out until May 28, 2010 so it’s really just perfect timing that Candace Bushnell is releasing The Carrie Diaries, a teen prequel, on April 27, 2010, ugggh.  I can’t wait that long.  According to People.com, the book is set during Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years and “details the budding fashionista’s early relationships and how she began her career as a writer.”  I’m already freaking out.  I always thought it was super weird that the only time she ever mentions her family is when she briefly talks about how her dad walked out on her and her mom when she was a toddler.  Then there’s never even one mention or scene with her mom.  So odd.  I guess all will be explained come April 27th.

bareMinerals Face Fashion kits

So lately I’ve been getting really into eyeshadow kits that provide everything you need to achieve a specific look.  It takes all the guess work out of that smokey eye or classic glam look and generally also gives you step-by-step directions on how to actually get the look, which is ideal for someone who doesn’t have much makeup experience!  I recently tried Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Face Fashion in the limited edition “Classic Glam” and I am thrilled with the results.

The kit comes with the following products:

  • bareMinerals Pearl Sateen Eyecolor (vanilla cream glimpse) (size: extra-small)
  • bareMinerals Parisian Gray Eyecolor (medieval stone velvet) (size: extra-small)
  • bareMinerals Charcoal Lam’e Liner Shadow (metallic bronzed coal) (size: extra-small)
  • bareMinerals So Fab Blush (rose berry) (size: small)
  • Mini 100% Natural Lipgloss in Pomegranate (red berry)

G2 Organics Nail Polish Remover

I recently received a pitch email on this really interesting product, G2 Organics Nail Polish Remover.  I have to say, I never even thought about the idea of organic nailpolish remover…pretty cool.  What I really love about this is that it’s not only better for YOU, but also better for the environment.  Think about all those used napkins and tissues we throw out with the regular non-organic remover on it!  Gross.  G2 Organics is non-toxic, odorless, gentle and effective plus, as a bonus, you can get a version that contains Reiki-charged crystals, a genuine quartz crystal known to help your overall well-being.  A little extra help can’t hurt, right?  Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Sounds good to me…and a little extra FYI, the two creators, Cherie and Marie, are from Westchester County, NY (where I grew up) so I had to show a little extra love. =)

GODIVA Home Fragrance Collection

So I do love beauty and home products that smell like food.  We all know this.  I recently received the new GODIVA Milk Chocolate Truffle Scented Candle and I’m completely into it.  I love coming home, drinking a glass of wine and burning this candle all while catching up on my favorite blogs and TV shows.  SO relaxing.  The line also includes Holiday Peppermint Bark (HELLO, holiday hostess gift), Black Almond Truffle, White Chocolate Magnolia and Raspberry Ganache.  Yum.  I’m getting hungry just typing this.  The best part is that the candles are actually really affordable as well ($22.50 each).

CHANEL Mousse Exfoliante Purete Exfoliating Cleansing foam Purity + Anti-Pollution

So I recently received a product mailing from one of my favorites brands of all time, CHANEL. As you can see here, I talk about CHANEL fashion a lot so why not start delving into the beauty side?  The CHANEL Mousse Exfoliante Purete Exfoliating Cleansing foam Purity + Anti-Pollution is an amazing exfoliating cleaning foam. The luxurious foam glides on immediately and is targeted for combination to oily skin.  Tulip Tree Extract, a main ingredient, works to cleanse and protect the skin from environmental elements while also gently exfoliating the face.  A bonus?  The product came with the most adorbale little white CHANEL face cloth.  Sorry, don’t think it’s for sale. =)

Nippies by Bristols6

So I was checking out one of my favorite blogs, SkinnyPurse.com, and saw this great post on Nippies by Bristols6.  Nippies are truly a great solution to this season’s sheer runway looks.  And with celeb followers like Rachel Bilson, Rihanna and Katy Perry, there’s really no room for argument.  Anyone else notice the lack of “nipple slip” celeb incidents lately?  I remember back in the hay-day of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton…it seemed like one of them was flashing at least once a week!  Check out the whole line here and avoid your own celebrity “wardrobe malfunction.”
