Taylor Jacobson has left Rachel Zoe, Inc.!

So I just read this article on People.com and I’m sure that I’m not the only person who isn’t shocked.  Taylor Jacobson has left Rachel Zoe, Inc!  I’m completely obsessed with the Rachel Zoe Project, as are many, so if you’re also an avid watcher, you know that all Taylor did was basically complain about everything.  As annoying as it was was to listen to the constant bitching, it was evident that Taylor IS actually good at what she does.  BTW- loooove the coat she wears in the above photo.  Here’s what her statement email said:

“After four amazing years at Rachel Zoe Corporation, I’m saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap to go off and style on my own.”

Mandee announces holiday partnership with Soles4Souls charity

So for anyone who didn’t know, I worked at the clothing retail store Mandee my junior year of high school.  I had many, many random jobs in high school but I have to say, working at Mandee was one of my favorites.  I honestly think that I spent 90% of my paycheck while working…but hey, at least I was getting 30% off.  What’s great about Mandee (for a high school student) is that everything there is super trendy AND super cheap…and you have to remember, I was in high school pre-Forever21 so yeah, it was my mecca.  Plus, it was closer to my house than the mall.  Anywho, I’ll stop ranting about my “glory days” and get to the charitable part.

Mandee has partnered with Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to providing shoes to people in need.  From November 4th through December 24th, all 120 Mandee stores will be collection donations of gently worn shoes and as a thank you for participating, each customer that donates will receive a 20% off discount coupon towards an item of their choice.  Good deal if you ask me!  Need more convincing?  In addition to collecting shoes, Mandee will also collect $1 donations at the register from any customer that chooses to provide further support to Soles4Souls.  Soles4Souls has given away more than 5.5 million pairs of new and gently worn pairs of shoes to-date!  Since it’s estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in their closet, you really have NO excuse.  For further information on the campaign and way to donate, visit www.giveshoes.org.

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara

So lately I’m obsessing over Physician’s Formula.  I’ve posted about two other products that I absolutely adore and this mascara doesn’t put either of them to shame.  Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara is the first ever 100% natural origin mascara where 100% of the total ingredients are of natural origin AND even the mascara brush and packagine are 100% recyclable.  Worried that because this product is so natural it might not work well?  I worry about that too usually but I’m telling you, this mascara is awesome- even better than some of the non-natural brands that I’ve tried.

Jeannine Morris on E! Emmy’s segment!

So working in the beauty/social media industry, I meet a LOT of people.  Most are fairly nice or at least tolerable but I do hold a few that I’ve met close to me and consider them TRUE friends.  Jeannine Morris is one of those few!  As a former Cosmo editor, beauty writer and founder of BeautySweetSpot.com, Jeannine is a mega force in the beauty world but wanna know how we fell in friendship love?  I was flying out to LA to find an apartment, my flight was delayed SIX, yes I said SIX hours and I went on Twitter only to see that Jeannine had tweeted about having a glass of wine in Terminal 5 at JFK.  Wait- I was in terminal 5 at JFK!  I tweeted back and emailed her and eventually we found each other!  How CRAZY is that?  Anyhow, we stayed in touch and when she came out to LA to do an E! segment for the Emmy’s we hung out poolside at my favorite spot, The Roosevelt Hotel (we even met Sal from E!, who apparently thought he knew me), and I helped her practice her lines for the segment!  I’m proud to say that Jeannine absolutely killed it- flawless.  Check out her segment on her blog, here.

Halloween 2009: Lady Gaga…the look achieved

So Halloween.  I posted about how I was going to dress up as Lady GaGa and I’m happy to say that my costume was a huge success.  Sure, there were a few people who thought I was a member of KISS…and a few who thought I was trying to be Jem…but for the most part, I think people got it.  I owe a big thank you to the amazing product I used to make Lady GaGa’s famous black lightening bolt, Physician’s Formula Eye Definer Felt Tip Eye Marker.  My friend Kelley put her artistic skills to use and was shocked at how easy it was to draw the lightening bolt with this product.  Plus, it didn’t smudge, melt or move ALL night.  The photo isn’t great but you can see how awesome this product worked for my Lady GaGa look 😉
