Rating 5 Celebrity Wines

Today’s celebrity wine rating post was basically inspired by a combination of TikTok and the pandemic; it’s true – soooo many of us have been drinking at home for the past year and, I don’t know about you guys, but I started to get realllll creative with some of my alcohol orders, lol.  At one point I was doing orders by country (still laughing out loud as I type this) because I feel like I traveled the world from my couch after trying new wines from Spain, New Zealand, Italy and France.  Not to mention my trip to Mexico with two new tequilas (fun fact: I still like Casamigos best for margaritas; sipping tequila is a different story).

Anywho, as I did research for this blog post on which celeb wines I wanted to try, I learned one kind of crazy fact: there are DOZENS of celebrity wine brands.

Like ones you’ve probably never even heard of.

I sent several screen shots to my friend Gaby, who is a former People reporter and clearly knows her celeb info, and even she was shocked at some of them.  But, that said, I selected five that are totally on brand for HJ readers and I’m very curious to hear what you guys think so make to sure to comment below and let me know your thoughts.

Oh and btw- I ordered all five of these wines online since I’m trying to be COVID safe.  If you want to try any (or all) of these, and have them shipped directly to you, use my referral link HERE – you’ll get $30 off your first order!

AVALINE White Wine | Rating 5 Celebrity Wines

AVALINE White Wine

Ok, this is probably the newest brand out of the bunch and the brand was founded by Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power, the co-founder of Who What Wear.  The entire brand is “clean” wine, if you will.  That basically means it’s vegan (yes, some wine DOES have animal by-product in it!), made with organic grapes, and free of added sugars, concentrates and colors.  It also has a slightly lower alcohol percentage (11.5%), which also helps prevent those hangovers, along with no added sugar, etc.

Overall impression:

I really like this wine; it’s crisp and dry, just the way I like my wines typically.  It’s interesting to me that they only make one white, one red, etc., but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the general “white wine,” the taste, AND the fact I didn’t have even an inkling of a headache the next day.  I’d definitely buy it again!

LVE by John Legend Cotes de Provence Rosé | Rating 5 Celebrity Wines

LVE by John Legend Cotes de Provence Rosé

I wasn’t sure what to expect with John Legend’s rosé. One because who knew John Legend drank rosé?  But then I also pretty much assumed that anything he puts his name on will be GOOD, you know?

Overall impression:

Here’s another one I’d totally buy again.  First off, French rosé is always the best rosé, so there’s that.  Aside from the bottle’s pretty aesthetic, the flavor is crisp with light notes of freshly picked strawberries and white nectarines and a mineral finish (that came from the website because I’m the worst at identifying scent).

Invivo X by Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc

This wine came in hot for me for two reasons: I obviously love all things Sarah Jessica Parker and the fact that I LOVE a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc…I had high expectations here guys, especially after seeing that this wine has won all kinds of awards.

Overall impression:

WOW. Just WOW.  If you love a dry, crisp white wine you will definitely be into this.  From the brand’s site (’cause, again, I’m no sommelier here): “Abundant notes of grapefruit, honeysuckle, passionfruit, and citrus zest evolve from the glass. At first, the palate is expansive and leads with a wall of sweet-scented fruits and a soft- but balanced- acid spine. The mid-palate grows to another level, where supple phenolics offer a framework to further lift the fruit. The wine continues to unfold and is very long and persistent. This is a seriously drinkable Sauvignon Blanc that will continue to develop for up to seven years.”

I will 100% be buying this again.

Vanderpump Rosé

Vanderpump Rosé

I love Lisa Vanderpump and am not ashamed to admit that her restaurants here in LA bring me nothing but pure joy (hopefully I’ll get the vaccine soon so I can actually go to restaurants again, SIGH).  But, that said, I wasn’t sure what to expect here since I tried their Sangria years ago and didn’t love it.

Overall impression:

Very impressed! I guess I should’ve expected that LVP would make a good rosé since that seems to be her drink of choice on Vanderpump Rules and RHOBH.  The rosé is a dry, classic style (my fave). And has “delicate red currant and hints of pepper, as well as sweet citrus. On the palate, it reveals a touch of strawberry, tangerine and peach.”

The brand recommends pairing it with light appetizers, seafood and of course the classic Provence dish, Moules Frites, and I whole heartedly agree.

Vanderpump Rosé ($20)

Sun Goddess Sauvignon Blanc

This was one of those “Mary J. Blige has a wine brand?” moments.  Who knew?  Not me.  I was excited to try this one and I think the bottle is super chic.

Overall impression:

Ugh, I wanted to like this one I really did.  It wasn’t BAD, it also just wasn’t good, you know?  Obviously it’s all subjective because everyone has different tastes in wine. But, for me, it was a tad too sweet and tasted more like a chardonnay to me.  From the brand: This wine is “intensely aromatic, with tropical notes of passion fruit, banana, and melon and hints of spice. Particularly structured with a balance between an intense acidity and smoothness with a long finish.”  I wouldn’t buy this one again but I’m glad I tried it!  That said, maybe next time I’ll try her Pinot Grigio?
