Three Questions With Paul Walker

I can’t pretend for even a minute that I don’t love the movies She’s All That, Varsity Blues and Pleasantville…plus, and this is a HUGE flash back but hello, Mr. Paul Walker has been on my man bucket list since 2006.  Seriously, that was one of my very first blog posts ever.  But I digress.  After meeting Paul, I realized he’s a totally normal, down-to-earth nice guy who has a real passion for marine biology (specifically with sharks), cars and Budweiser…on top of loving his new campaign for Davidoff Cool Water cologne.

Q: What products do you use, besides Cool Water, obvs?

A: I’m a water guy…my hair doesn’t need shampoo or conditioner and I really like Dr. Bronner’s cause you can wash your clothes with it, wash yourself…and I like the smell of both the Peppermint and Eucalyptus.

Q: What got you interested in working with Davidoff Cool Water?

A: I have a really intimate relationship with the ocean and Davidoff Cool Water is the quintessential ocean fragrance.  In junior high all the guys wore Cool Water…I think Snoop Dogg brought it back (Paul then did a mini rap; see video link below!)

Q: So why is it exactly that Budweiser is your choice beer?

A: I decided that I liked Budweiser before I even tasted beer.  It’s red, white and blue, it’s American and it’s the king of beers…marketing totally works.  What more could you want?!

** make sure you also check out Sydne Summer’s YouTube video where I hijack the interview at the end and ask Paul what he thinks about jeggings and Paul does a mini Snoop Dogg rap. **

Three Questions With Amanda Peet

So I recently got the chance to interview actress Amanda Peet on her collaboration with Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips, my new obsession.  Over the years I’ve dabbled with a few different white strips and have been unsuccessful 90% of the time…until now.  What I love the most about these is the slogan “a brigher smile when you need it, no planning required” because let’s be honest, I’m never going to say “hey, it’s Sunday, time to whiten my teeth!”  That’s not realistic at all.  What is realistic is that the product promises noticeably whiter teeth after just one two hour treatment and it lasts for up to three months.

And with all that said, Amanda Peet took  the time to sit down with me and answer a few of my burning questions.  I have to say, after several celeb interviews, Amanda was refreshingly awesome and funny.  We chatted about everything from lip injections (she yelled “don’t touch it!” when I told her I have a small upper lip) to her favorite drink (a really good dirty martini) to how hot and amazing Ben Affleck is- she’s done two movies with him.

Q: What drew you in to partner with Crest?

A: I’m a really busy mom and a born multi-tasker…I thought the product was really incredible.  I don’t like to wear of lot of makeup so it’s really an incredible beauty tip.  It’s perfect for going on a date and you want to look a little bit more amazing…you can just throw them on and you’re done.

Q: What are your other beauty product secrets?

A: Tweezerman Tweezers, a really good blush (Amanda likes CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow) and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.

Q: If you could give any advice to your 22-year-old self, what would it be?

A: Dont worry too much, be single, be explorative, travel, sleep and drink (laughs all around).

Three Questions With Diane Kruger

So I recently attended a fabulous luncheon at the Four Season in Beverly Hills in honor of Calvin Klein Beauty, the fragrance.  The fragrance’s face, Diane Kruger, was also in attendance (gasp!) as well as some of my favorite bloggers- Emily from CupcakesandCashmere.com, Annie from BellaSugar.com and Katherine Power from WhoWhatWear.com, just to name a few.  The lunch was delish and we all got to go around ask Diane a few questions.  Here’s three questions with Diane Kruger, as told by me. =)

Q: If you could give your 22-year-old self any advice, what would it be?

A:(chuckling) It would be to relax.  I was a model in New York when I was 21/22….and I wouldn’t want to be that age again.

Q: I heard that Karl Lagerfeld is your neighbor for your Paris apartment.  What kind of neighbor is he?

A: Karl is a great neighbor but he stays up very late!  He also always has groupies waiting for him downstairs, at all times of the day and night.  He’s also the only person in Paris who drives a Hummer and he owns nearly half the block and he’s constantly trying to buy my apartment.”

Q: What are your beauty and fashion obsessions?

A: I love fake lashes- I’m obsessed.  I’m currently using Cetaphil, L’Oreal Triple Active Jour Day, Kiehl’s Blue Toner and CoverGirl concealer.

Three Questions with Brooke Burke

So as you know, I recently went to an Oral-B breakfast with Brooke Burke and was actually given the opportunity to have a one-on-one interview with the TV host herself.  If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know that Brooke is the co-host of Dancing With the Stars, the host of She’s Got the Look, the Co-CEO of ModernMom.com, the President of BabooshBaby.com and author of the soon-to-be released book “Naked Mom.”  So yeah, she’s a busy lady, to say the least and here goes…three questions with Brooke Burke:

Q: What are your beauty secrets to stay so young-looking?

A: My number one tip would be that I drink lots of water.  I also exfoliate one to thre times a week and I love vitamin C serums, eye serums, etc.  I also eye patches when I’m getting ready for my shows…they really hydrate and help wake you up.

Q: If you could give your 22-year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

A: Know what you don’t know.  I can remember being 22 and thinking you have it all figured out.  Also do something that scares you…it’s so important to challenge yourself, take risks and lots of chances.

Q: Who surprised you the most on Dancing With the Stars?

A: I was very surprised to learn what a gentleman and how nice The Situation is.  He’s a very nice guy…I hope he’s gonna be around for awhile. (Note: this interview was conducted before The Sitch was voted off)

Contest Alert/Three Questions with Andrea Lavinthal

So I’ve known Andrea Lavinthal for a few years now and I have to say, she regularly impresses me with her witty writing, in-depth beauty knowledge and lastly, the fact that ‘she’s co-written THREE books by the age of 30.  Impressive, to say the least.  Her latest is titled Your So-Called Life: A Guide to Boys, Body Issues, and Other Big-Girl Drama You Thought You Would Have Figured Out by Now (available tomorrow).  After checking out an advanced copy, I realized how I am completely and totally in this phase of my life…it’s a mix of the quarter life crisis and what Andrea and co-author Jessica call your “thrisis” or “redo-berty.”  Check out the three burning questions I had for Andrea and enter for a chance to win your own free copy of her genius book.

Q: What does “thirty, flirty and thriving” mean to you?

A: Depends on the day.  When someone compliments me on a story I wrote, a blind date actually has all of his hair, and my skinny jeans zip up without a fight, that phrase embodies the confidence you gain in your late twenties and early thirties.  However, when your boss utters the words, “pay freeze,” the cute guy with hair goes MIA, and you’ve taken to wearing leggings EVERYWHERE, “thirty, flirty, and thriving” can feel like nothing more than a line in a Jennifer Garner movie (albeit my favorite Jennifer Garner movie).

Q: What part of your “redo-berty” or “thrisis” is personally hardest for you?

A: You know how when one area of your life is going great, another one is falling to pieces?  Well, I feel good baout what I’ve accomplished so far in my prfessional life and I’m thrilled that I achieved my goal of publishing three books by 30.  Now I’m ready to get married and be a mother and let’s just say that writing the relationship chapter of the book hit a little too freaking close to home!

Q: You and Jessica obviously have an amazing friendship, which is so important to have, and especially during the “thrisis.”  What did Jessica bring to the book and what did you bring to the book that makes you such a great team?

A: As Women’s Wear Daily put it in a feature on the two of us, “Lavinthal, all citified sorority girl in knee-high Michael Kors boots and honey-colored highlights, and the more cerebral, reserved, Rozler seem at first glance an unlikely pair, but it was these differences that drew them together.”  While this quote not-so-subtly implies that Jessica is the brains of this operation while I’m the, um, hair, we are actually more similar than people think.  For starters, we share a wildy inappropriate sense of humor and a love of pop culture.  Also, we’ve been writing together since we met as journalism students at Syracuse University so at this point we can literally finish each other’s (written) sentences.  However, Jessica is more patient, conscientious, and thoughtful than I am, which makes her not only an amazing writer, but a meticulous editor as well.  Plus, she lets me hog the spotlight.

CONTEST:

Leave a comment and let us know your biggest “Thrisis” challenge then email me with your answer and email address (QueenoftheQuarterLifeCrisis@gmail.com).  Three winners will be selected on Monday, September 20th!

Three Questions With Liz Earle

So I had the pleasure of attending a beauty press event for Liz Earle a few years back and I have to admit that after hearing her speak, I developed a small girl crush on the skincare mogul. Liz Earle products are smart, point and case.  Each ingredient (nearly all fair-trade) are thought out and serve a unique purpose and really, what more can you ask for with your skincare products?  Liz did me the honor of answering three questions which I happily share with you, my readers.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own skincare line?

A: Know your subject inside and out, upside down and back again.  There is so much of value to learn, and going into something without heaps of research and genuine knowledge is not a good idea.  “Crawl, walk, run” is my motto and it basically means don’t rush anything and take your time to make sure that everything you do is right to everyone involved.

Q: If you could give your 24-year-old self any advice, what would it be?

A: I would tell myself to use a skincare routine which is simple, dependable and effective, and cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day.  Skincare should be a fuss-free pampering experience – and it shouldn’t cost the earth either.  As a life-long sufferer of eczema, I had tried just about every skincare range on the market before co-founding the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range.  If I could tell my 24-year-old self one more thing, it would be to use a skincare range packed with botanicals, herbs, plant oils and vitamins. (It’s a shame I don’t have a time machine!)

Q: What do you see as the next big trend in skincare?

A: An interesting trend that I have noticed developing momentum within the beauty industry is a focus on back to basics, high performance skincare.  With an emphasis on cleanse, tone, moisturize, and a focus on products which offer double dosage properties.  Many of our customers contact us to tell us that they love our range so much because our products are mult-purpose essentials.  For example, our Cleanse & Polish removes every trace of makeup (even on the eye area), cleaning the skin and gently exfoliating all in one simple pump.  I think multi-tasking skincare is going to continue to thrive.
