Somewhat scary beauty treatments to try now (while you’re home)

Because now is the time to try allll the beauty treatments you’ve been too scared to try…

The other day I was talking to two friends about how many beauty treatments we all miss; for me it’s getting my balayage highlights and Botox.  For some of my other friends it’s getting their nails done and eyelash extensions (more popular than you know!)…but that made me think about all the beauty treatments people tend to put off because they’re scared of the results.

Here are three somewhat scary beauty treatments to try NOW. Mostly because who cares if your feet peel for two weeks while you’re home in quarantine, right?

Barefoot Scientist Reboot Revitalizing Foot Peel:

Um, when I saw that Barefoot Scientist launched a foot peel I had to try it (my obsession with Baby Foot is forever and always, you know).  So what is a foot peel, you ask?  It’s basically a facial for your feet. But BS’s version is great for sensitive skin since it uses a gentler alpha-hydroxy acid to start the exfoliation process.  The AHAs remove the unwanted build-up of dead, hardened, and callused skin cells. While antioxidant-rich fruit extracts delicately moisturize and nourish your entire foot throughout the treatment.  I use this foot facial about once every three or four months for the softest, smoothest feet ever.  One note: you shouldn’t use this product if you are pregnant, nursing, diabetic or have a sensitive skin medical condition.

Naturium Vitamin C Super Serum Plus

Naturium Vitamin C Super Serum Plus:

So the other day my friend “D” asked me whether or not she should try retinol again.  She said that she had tried it in the past but it made her face peel like crazy (totally normal, btw). She stopped immediately once the peeling occurred.  The thing about retinol and other active ingredients like vitamin C is that they CAN make your skin peel. And, yeah, I get that it’s annoying.  That said, NOW IS THE TIME to use these amazing actives. And actually use them long enough for your skin to get used to them (i.e. the peeling will stop).

My pick is this all around active multi-tasker from Naturium since it not only has retinol and vitamin C, but it also has hyaluronic acid, niacinamide (my new favorite!) and salicylic acid to help brighten, smooth, firm and target the look of fine lines, while also shielding skin from environmental stressors.

In all my years of blogging and working in beauty, I’ve never seen ONE PRODUCT that has all of these ingredients combined.  This one is a winner, trust me.

+Lux Unfiltered No. 32 Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream

+Lux Unfiltered No. 32 Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream:

Now self tanner isn’t exactly new or that scary. But I think some people are afraid of using a self-applying self tanner since they can be pretty easy to mess up (and streak yourself up).  I recently bought this self tanning cream after seeing Sivan’s before and afters and I am officially hooked on the level of bronzy dewiness it gives me.  The cream is super hydrating, not sticky and doesn’t look orange or fake!  I love the scent (a light Moroccan rose fragrance), and it’s also infused with shea butter, cocoa butter, and passion fruit oil (why it’s so hydrating).  Honestly, this might just be one of the best self-tanning creams I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried A LOT of self tanning creams.
