The $15 Vitamin C Serum That Works Just As Well As the Fancy Stuff

Because I talk a lot about anti-aging on my blog, and one of the most frequent requests that I get from you guys is to find products that work (like really and truly work) but that don’t cost $500…

I get it – believe me. And I’m with you. I love the fancy stuff as much as any other girl does but when I find a true gem, and it just so happens to cost less than $20, I promise it always goes to the top of my “must blog about” list.

So what skincare products usually cost the most? The ones that have the good stuff in them…i.e. the really-expensive-to-source ingredients/ingredients that are hard to keep active inside the bottle (which is what makes the price go up, typically).

Typically expensive skincare product:

vitamin C serum

I always preach about retinol and, trust, I still live and die by retinol, but vitamin C shouldn’t be forgotten or dismissed. In fact, the combo of the two products will leave your skin looking as smooth and wrinkle-free as you were at age 19…but being totally honest, I’ve had a hard time finding a vitamin C serum that I really like AND doesn’t cost a fortune. Some of the best ones I’ve tried retail for over $200 a bottle and unless I try it and instantly reverts me back to my college-aged face, I never really feel comfortable promoting any of them here on the blog.

So why this serum?

  • Topical vitamin C is clinically proven to make a noticeable difference in the skin with continued use.
  • As an antioxidant it neutralizes free radicals in the skin, which are formed from the likes of pollution, the sun, stress, smoking, etc., which can lead to wrinkles and skin cancer.
  • Vitamin C boosts collagen production and reverses skin cell damage, which keeps your skin looking firmer and also helps to prevent hyperpigmentation
  • A lot of people are sensitive to retinol but vitamin c is usually ok for anyone with more sensitive skin and is a great anti-aging alternative for them.

Skin To You

I’ve been using Skin To You Vitamin C Ya daily for the past few weeks and I’ve been getting probably twice the compliments on my skin than usual. “You’re skin is so smooth!” “You’re GLOWING!” and on and on. The only change? The addition of this serum into my skincare regimen.

Vitamin C Ya (amazing name, just to note), basically acts as a daily multivitamin for your skin, giving you an extra boost of hydration and brightening. It’s fragrance-free so no need to worry about any medicine-like smells and, like I mentioned earlier, it costs less than $20. Yep, that’s right. It’s pretty hard to find a great vitamin c serum for such a low cost and I’m super impressed with the Skin To You brand for stepping up to the plate. I also really love that they label all of their products in general as “step 1,” “step 2,” or “step 3,” so this way you can create a regimen that works for you and then ALSO know the order you’re supposed to use everything (another common question I get).

Don’t forget your neck!

I also want to mention the brand’s super cute video.  I love how it basically describes how every woman learns about skincare – i.e. lots of confusion and lots of wasted money on products that don’t work.  Like I said, when I find a quality product that really works, you can count on me to shout it from the rooftops!

What do you guys think? Will you try this cheap and chic vitamin c serum find?
