I still can’t believe the month is almost over. WTF happened to August?

Ironic Boat and Tote
After reading about the ironic boat and trend pretty much everywhere (including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar!), I decided that I absolutely needed one. If you’re not familiar, basically women are having funny words monogrammed on to the classic LL Bean tote we’ve all seen for years instead of the traditional initials or name. It’s hilarious and I love seeing all the words people are getting over on the dedicated Ironic Boat and Tote Instagram account. I went with Messy Hot Aunt, but I also really love Psycho, Unhinged, Belieber, Gatekeep, Nepotism and so many more (seriously check the IG account). Oh, and one thing you need to know – LL Bean apparently cracked down on curse words or anything they deem “inappropriate” – SNOOZE. They also have a small letter count, so if you want to monogram something spicy and/or long, I’d find an independent shop or someone on Etsy. I got mine from Just The Thing Shop since Messy Hot Aunt is too long for the Bean.
This is so fun, right? I can’t wait to use my Messy Hot Aunt tote.
An exfoliating back scrubber
I talked about why I love getting back facials a few years ago and, yeah, I will admit that my back has definitely been a little neglected since COVID. When I first read about this back scrubber, I was like YES. SIGN ME UP. I WANT THIS. The brand sent me one to try and, gotta say, I am very into it. The scrubber uses an ancient weaving design that allows for a gentle, yet deep exfoliation, and my back really was smooth AF after the first time I used this baby. It’s also super easy to use – you basically just put your hands in the little ropes (while in the shower) and move it across your back, side to side. Get one – you won’t regret it.

Things Making Me Happy: A rewatch of an old TV favorite
Veronica Mars has and always will be one of my top 10 favorite TV shows, and that’s a big claim coming from someone who loves TV as much as I do, ha. If you haven’t ever watched, trust me when I tell you that you will be addicted immediately – Veronica gives lovable female heroine to a T, and since the show started in the early 2000s, you’ll also get major high school and college nostalgia while watching. The low rise jeans! I can not. I just recently rewatched the entire series and I cry every time it ends. Here’s how to watch it so that you get the full effect:
- Season 1 (Hulu)
- Season 2 (Hulu)
- Season 3 (Hulu)
- The Veronica Mars movie – which was literally created by a KickStarter because that’s how much fans love the series (HBO Max)
- Season 4 (Hulu)
Veronica Mars, Hulu and HBO Max
An article that inspires hope
This article has been making the rounds over on TikTok, and I’m absolutely HERE for it. I’ll let you give the story a read and form your own opinions, BUT I will say that it gives me a shit ton of hope for when I do decide I want to start dating again. Oh, you mean you actually have to try now, men? Oh, you mean the bare minimum is no longer acceptable? This might be the one good thing that came out of the past few years.
