Here’s Why You Need the Insta-Famous Ice Roller

why you need the Ice Roller

Because it’s hands-down my favorite skincare tool…

I can’t even remember when I first started seeing the now insta-famous ice roller all over Instagram, but when I did, it was literally everywhere. As a big fan of ice in general (hello lower back pain!), I wasn’t skeptical at all about how well it would work…I was only surprised at how obsessed I became with using it, haha.

First off, let’s start with the fact that it’s less than $20. That’s cheap AF considering how much so many other skincare devices cost. I’ve seen prices and colors vary on Amazon, but, personally, I think white on white is the chicest and would definitely recommend that color combo over others…but I digress.

Ice Roller Benefits

A TRUE HANGOVER HELPER

I try to avoid being hungover at all costs but, at 36, sometimes it’s inevitable and also really ROUGH. When I do wake up feeling like death, my ice roller gives me instant gratification and really does help soothe your skin, especially around sore muscles from a long night out. It reduces inflammation and can work wonders on headaches as well as overall puffiness.

A SECRET TO REDUCING FACIAL AND EYE PUFFINESS

The ice roller’s main purpose is to reduce puffiness and inflammation (hangover or no hangover). Rolling my face for 2-5 minutes every morning has become a true delight, and my skin instantly feels tighter and smoother. The cold therapy provides a soothing sensation that feels refreshing on the eye area and face.

AN ANTI-AGING SECRET?!

Since inflammation is one of the leading causes of aging, daily ice rolling can actually help prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Not to mention, the roller helps with other skin conditions like rosacea (which I have), acne, and psoriasis. Incorporating the roller into your skincare routine can offer long-term benefits for clearer, more youthful skin.

A PORE-SHRINKER

The cold temperature of the ice roller shrinks your pores temporarily, making your skin look smoother. If you’re dealing with large pores, this can be a quick fix for minimizing their appearance before applying beauty products. True, it’s only temporary, but using it as part of your skin care routine can help you achieve a polished look in minutes.

A ONE-WAY TICKET TO A MORE DEFINED JAWLINE

I typically focus on the area around my eyes and cheeks when I’m feeling super puffed, but focusing on the jawline can help to lift and tighten the skin, creating a more defined look. The lymphatic drainage effect from rolling can also help reduce fluid retention in the face and neck.

A SERIOUS HELP FOR MUSCLE ACHES AND HEADACHES, TOO

I mentioned earlier that the ice roller helps for hangover headaches, but it’s not just limited to that! It also helps with muscle and joint pain. You can roll it over sore muscles or inflamed areas, and since it stays cold for a good amount of time, it’s a great way to get relief. Don’t limit your ice rolling to just your face – try it on any part of your body where you experience tension or soreness.

The ice part of the roller is the real game-changer. It maintains a cold temperature for a long time, which makes it effective for reducing redness and inflammation. Whether you’re using it for beauty benefits or as a tool for cold therapy, the ice roller is a versatile addition to any self-care regimen. So next time you’re at the grocery store, consider grabbing one for an easy, affordable way to pamper your face and body.

How to use the ice roller

1-) Start with clean, dry skin.  Seriously, you don’t want your skin to be wet at all because, you know, ice plus water = freezer burn on your face.

2-) De-puff in the A.M..  Really, you can use the ice roller any time, but I personally love using it as soon as I wake up to de-puff my face and also give me kind of a “wake the fuck up” feeling from the cold.

3-) Use upward strokes.  Just like with any skincare product or device, you want to go in an upward motion to prevent sagging skin and give the face a bit of a “lift.”

do you need the Insta-famous Ice Roller? yes! and get it in green like the one shown here
