ThinkThruFashion Accessory Swap Soiree with Michael Stars

So this past Tuesday I attended a very special event: ThinkThruFashion’s Accessory Swap Soiree with Michael Stars, which celebrated the first six months of the year-long ttF Fashion Staple Series.  You’ve probably seen my posts that reference Sydne, my partner in crime but you probably didn’t know that every time we go out, I’m also taking photos of her amazing outfits for her blog, ThinkThruFashion.com – smart styling for today.

100 of LA’s top fashion and beauty bloggers, editors and tastemakers mingled and traded accessories poolside at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills.  And I have to say, I helped out with check-in for a bit and the accessories that people brought were actually really good!  Lots of Lia Sophia and other designer goodies, a lot even still had tags on them.  I scored an awesome gold necklace with two charms- one the state of California and the other charm, an apple.  Bi-coastal, baby.

Yes, the event was to celebrate 6 months of of the ttF Staple Series but there was also a charity raffle that benefited Mariska Hargitay’s The Joyful Heart Foundation.  $680 was raised and Sydne and Michael Stars each matched the amount, bringing the grand total raised to $2,000!  Here are some more pics from the event:

I’m off to New York!

So I’m off to New York for a week and I seriously can’t wait.  I haven’t seen my family since Christmas (with the brief exception of my Degree trip back in March)!  And ugh, my friends…I’m bursting with excitement.  I’m so excited, in fact, that I don’t even care that it’s going to be 97 degrees and HUMID.  Yeah, humidity is something I’d like to forget and nearly have forgotten since moving to LA.  Ah well, it will still be fun to catch up and roam around NY, 22 year old style.  Stay tuned for updates and follow me on Twitter to get the instant play-by-plays.

I’m pretty much going nomad-style and will be roaming all over from Long Island to Manhattan to Westchester and maybe even, gasp, New Jersey.

Giveaway! Win a bottle of L’Oreal Elnett!

So when something’s a cult favorite, it’s usually for a reason.  Nadine gave me one of her spare bottles of L’Oreal Elnett a few months back and my reaction: I can’t believe I had to wait 27 years to try the best hair spray EVER.

Why do you care?  I’m giving away THREE BOTTLES of this genius product in honor of the fact that one of my favorite reality stars, Kourtney Kardashian, was busted stocking up on the goods last week.  If it’s good enough for a Kardashian, it’s good enough for you, people.

Simply comment on this post and tell me who your favorite Kardashian is and why.  Also make sure to leave your email address so I can contact you if you’re one of the three winners.  Good luck!

DEADLINE: Sunday, August 1st at 5pm PST

LeAnn Rimes’ abs of steel

LeeAnn and Andrew Keegan (before) and LeAnn NOW

So when I saw this recent pic of country music star LeAnn Rimes, I nearly passed out.  When I think of LeAnn, I think of middle school, “How Do I Live WIthout You” and Andrew Keegan…not the most perfect abs ever.  It’s always intriguing when you see a celeb who was never considered particularly “hot” all of the sudden show up with some killer feature and yeah, I’ll say it…I wanna know how the hell she got those abs.

I’ve been all about the fitness lately but deep down I know that no matter how hard I try, I will never have great abs.  It’s genetics, people.  I look at my Dad.  This man does TWO A DAYS.  No joke- he goes to the gym once in the morning and once at night since he retired a little over a year ago.  And sure, he’s lost some lb’s…but he’s still got his “spare tire.”  I curse you, Stone family genes…you may have given me great teeth and milky white skin but you also bestowed me with non-existent ab muscles. I digress.

Lilith Fair and Degree’s VIP tent

So my love for Degree deodorant is really just endless and everlasting.  Not only are their products really and truly amazing but they’re also one of the few beauty companies that actually has a little fun and sponors some cool stuff.  Enter my invite to Lilith Fair.  I was super excited when Degree invited me to the concert on their behalf and granted me access to their VIP tent.  Of course the amazing Nadine Jolie was also invited, which made the day even more fun for me.  A girl’s gotta have her partner in crime, right?  Degree sent a car to take me to the show (hey, it was in the OC people) and as soon as I arrived I saw a bunch of women in long, flowered skirts putting flowers in each other’s hair and was kinda scared.  Yeah, I said it.  As much as I admire Sarah McLachlan, indie girl rock isn’t really my thang…however, I was pleasantly surprised at the intelligent, amazing women that the show featured.

We were allowed access to the press conference before the show started and we got to listen to Sarah and the other ladies talk about empowering women and why they love playing Lilith.  Good stuff.  As for the actual music, it was great, but the best part of the day was definitely hanging out in the Degree VIP tent, eating all the sushi and other snacks, drinking wine and generally just hanging out with my fellow bloggers (Amber from BeautyJunkiesUnite, the Bender sisters of BeautyStyleWatch, Cindy from HelloDollface and, of course, Nadine) and the rock star publicists who work on Degree.

“The Hills” is dun-zo!

So over the years, I’ve written many a blog post about Lauren Conrad and The Hills and it’s with great sadness that I write this final post! (Tear). I know the show got kinda lame once LC left and Kristin took over but I was totally still addicted.  Make sure you check out my Hills series finale hair care recap on TotalBeauty.com’s news column (which I also write for, fyi).

July Beauty Favorites

So as of late, I’ve been seriously loving these beauty products.  I play favorites, I do, but every other month or so I go through a “omg, I LOOOOVE this” phase and if they’re good enough, they might even make it into the permanant rotation.  I’ll let you guys know how it goes. 😉

Clockwise:

LUSH DaddyO -I’ve been on the hunt for a really good violet shampoo, which are known for keeping blonde shades from turning brassy.  DaddyO is made to help those with blonde OR grey hair to get hair shiny and stop the brass from coming.  Miracle worker.

Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss – I’ve been in love with these since they came out a year or two ago but only recently became obsessed.  With a flick of the wrist, the dudes on top get undressed AND the tube even has phermones…you just need to rub it to release them into the air.  Seriously.

David Yurman Luxurious Bath & Shower Gel – I’ve blogged about this product before and I loved it then…but now I’m officially obsessed.  It’s definitely pricey at $50 but it lasts forever and makes me feel fancy.

COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara – All I have to say is VOLUME AND LENGTH.  I’ve been a big fan of all of COVERGIRL’s mascaras but this one really takes the cake.  It’s the perfect blend and has the best qualities from each of their mascaras.
