So I’ve had a mild obsession with Rachel Zoe since I met her at Super Saturday two summers ago. She is, indeed, just as skinny as she looks on TV, btw, but also super nice! I saw her (and remember this is right around when all the Nicole Richie hooplah started) and all I could mumble out was “hi, I’m a huge fan…” and she smiled and said “OH! Thank you!” and sort of waited for me to elaborate…but I couldn’t. Ha. Annnyway, I LOOOVE her show on Bravo (The Rachel Zoe Project) and I also love her style…regardless of what anyone says about her. Fashion is fashion and SHE has changed things the past 2 years.
So OMG- HELLO Britney. All of America has been rooting for her, and from the looks of it, the encouragement has been working. She looks AMAZING- hair, skin, bod…whoa…and as a special bonus, I actually really like her new single “Womanizer.” It’s reminiscent of fun old-school Britney dancey songs that I always loved singing along to in college and high school. Ugh, and I’d seriously die for her hair in this photo.
So there’s just something about Lauren Conrad’s style that I love. She never really takes any kind of risk, which can sometimes be a little boring (her Emmy’s dress) but then again, she always looks great. This casual look here is so simple- basic skinny jeans, a long American Apparel-type t-shirt, heels and a few simple necklaces and bracelets…yet it’s super cute for a night out or a fun dinner. Now if I could just afford the Chanel bag…
So normally I don’t get down with promoting all of the Breast Cancer Awareness crap that comes out every October. It’s not that I don’t care but I just find it obnoxious that like almost every beauty company jumps on the band wagon and some don’t even donate a decent amount (5%? Come on) to the cause. But I digress because this is pretty cool and I love C.O. Bigelow…C.O. Bigelow has teamed up with Marisa Acocella Marchetto, author of the graphic novel “Cancer Vixen: A True Story” and breast cancer survivor, to create a special edition Cancer Vixen Collection. Acocella Marchetto gives C.O. Bigelow classics a vixen twist with her illustrations and C.O. Bigelow will donate $250,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

So I was scanning through a super old issue of Life & Style and I saw a story on beer actually being good for your hair. This seemed questionable to me, I mean, didn’t I take extraordinary measures in college to AVOID just that? We all made sure to keep our distance from “that” drunk girl with the wobbly pint of Bud Light! However, I was definitely intrigued- after doing some research, I found out that Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s hairstylist, Francky L’Official, says that after he washes her hair he rinses it with Budweiser select and that “the malt has a ton of protein, which gives cuticles a lift, while the vitamin B and natural sugars make hair super shiny.” Proteins from the malt and hops coat the hair, build it up and help repair damage! Now this just seems too good to be true so I decided to test out the random bottles I had in my fridge with these four simple recipes I found when googling “beer in hair.” Simple Beer Rinse Once a month use a can of flat beer after shampooing. Choose a beer that does not have a strong odor, shampoo and rinse hair as usual. Pour the flat, warm beer on your hair, work it through and rinse with lukewarm water. Cider Vinegar & Beer Rinse 1 oz water 2 teaspoons Cider Vinegar 1 ounce of flat Beer 5 drops Rosemary essential oil (optional) Mix all ingredients together then shampoo and rinse hair as usual. Pour the rinse on your hair and work it through. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Jojoba Oil and Beer Conditioner 1 cup warm beer 1 teaspoon jojoba oil (Jojoba oil is non-greasy and adds shine to your hair while beer adds body) Mix all ingredients together then shampoo and rinse hair as usual. Pour the conditioner on your hair and work it through. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Beer Styling Tonic Beer is also a very good setting lotion. It makes hair look healthy and shiny, and gives blow-dried hair increased vitality, resilience, and hold. Spray a little beer into your hair using a pump bottle after shampooing, just before you dry and style your hair. You can store the beer for a week or two if you keep it in a sealed bottle in the refrigerator.
So I need to discuss. OK, I was literally cursing at the TV when this was all going down. I wasn’t paying attention while the 90210 2.0 girls were devising their “brilliant” plan for Naomi to take the coke…next thing I know she’s VERY obviously going into the bathroom and staring at the cop. HELLO, just WALK AWAY. IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE DOG. Are you retarded? Why would you go into the bathroom?! JUST LEAVE. Then, you go into the stall and forget to LOCK the door behind you, clearly giving them a visual of you flushing drugs down the toilet. OK. So the drugs did go down. They saw you though. You’re what? 17? You might get halled away to prove a point, but you ain’t goin to jail. COME ON. A slap on the wrist…maybe some drug classes…done. AND if her Dad is such a great lawyer, why didn’t he just argue that they have no proof she was even flushing drugs?! OJ’s lawyer would’ve had her back.
P.S.- I hope one day I get “arrested” wearing something just as ridiculous.
So I got these Point Tweezerman tweezers in a gift bag back in high school (yeah, I was way cool back in the day, ha) and it’s been true love ever since. My eyebrows aren’t particularly hairy but with the super fine “point” (as opposed to the normal slant) you can grab ANY kind of hair, literally. I get compliments on my eyebrows ALL the time and people are constantly asking me where I get them done.
Anyway, I’ve tried going back to the traditional slant but once you go point, you never go back. That doesn’t rhyme…but you get the POINT. Ha.
