These are the 5 Sunscreens I keep in Rotation

Because you know I’m the self-proclaimed SPF queen…

Yeah, summer is almost over (omg I know), but SPF is something you need year round, ok?  My sunscreen blog posts are always popular so, this year, I wanted to focus on the sunscreens that I keep in constant rotation.

Also worth a read (and two of my most popular blog posts!):

These are the 5 Sunscreens I keep in Rotation

Best SPF for on-the-go

Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50

I talk about this loose mineral powder SPF a lot (most recently HERE), and it’s a favorite for good reason.  To start, I keep one in my car for those “oh shit” moments when the sun is beating down on my and I need to apply some extra SPF protection to my arms or face.  Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, the water and sweat-resistant formula boasts the brand’s exclusive tech combined with mineral oxides to counteract aggressors, including UVA/UVB, pollution, blue light and infrared radiation.  It’s also the BEST for your hair part or other random areas where you don’t/can’t apply a wet sunscreen.

Best lightweight SPF

Murad Correct & Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 45

This new-ish SPF product from Murad became an instant favorite for me!  It’s a satiny-smooth, 100% mineral SPF that also fights hyperpigmentation (aka dark spots) that exist/prevents new ones from forming.  It’s an SPF complete package (IMO) since you not only get broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) protection, but you also get some safe haven from blue light and pollution as well.  Honestly just a really good formula that’s perfect for under makeup!

Best budget SPF

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 50

I sing the praises of this drugstore SPF from every rooftop in America (proof HERE) and, if you haven’t tried it yet…well, you are honestly missing out.  The formula makes this $12 sunscreen feel like a $40 sunscreen – it’s water-resistant, non-greasy and truly just sinks into your skin the way a fancy moisturizer does.  This sunscreen is the best thing you can buy in the drugstore SPF aisle. I said it.

Best physical SPF

Mara Sea Kale Sunscreen Sérum

I’m pretty particular about physical sunscreen – it’s gotta not only be broad spectrum, but it also absolutely CAN NOT leave a white cast (easier said than done, believe it or not).  This serum SPF is a total game changer; not only is a serum SPF absolutely the best, but Mara’s version is lightweight and I don’t look like a total ghost after I use it.  In addition, it also has calming maritime botanicals that help reduce redness and sunburns, while their proprietary algae blend shields skin from blue light, pollution and photo-aging.

Best luxury SPF

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion SPF 50+

To no one’s surprise, I still stand by my statement that Shiseido makes the absolute best sunscreen in the game.  This SPF feels like a luxury face cream when you apply it to your skin; seriously, the last time my friend Rachel applied it to my back she was like “ohhhh my god! This sunscreen feels so nice!”

Aside from the luxurious feeling, this Shiseido SPF is formulated with the brand’s WetForce and HeatForce tech, which means that, aside from broad spectrum protection, you get an invisible, protective veil  of SPF that becomes strengthened when it senses water, sweat, or heat.
