2009 Skin Resolutions

So I’ve been breaking out the last few weeks and I’m NOT happy about it. I’ve decided to chalk it up to the fact that I’ve been slacking and condoning bad skin habits! In 2009, my new year skin resolutions are:

1) Always wash my skin before I go to sleep:
Besides foundation on my white pillow case, there’s no faster way to break out than not washing my face before bed.

2) Wear sunscreen EVERY day:
As much as I preach SPF, I too sometimes forget and slack. Wearing SPF is the BEST way to prevent wrinkles and sun damage so I need to step up my game for sure.

3) Don’t “pick” at my skin:
We all do it. You get a zit and you want to pick/pop/destroy it. While I do believe it’s sometimes necessary (when they hurt), picking at your face can prolong the breakout as well as cause scarring and scabbing.

4) Clean my makeup brushes more often:
Oil and bacteria can build up and cause breakouts! If you don’t have makeup brush cleaner, a baby shampoo can also do the trick!

Here’s to better skin in 2009!

No Frizz by Living Proof

So you may have heard some chatter on this hot new commodity: No Frizz by Living Proof. It won an Allure magazine Beauty Breakthrough and is all the buzz in the beauty world!

What it is: a new hair product line that fights frizz for all hair types and textures.

What it does: M.I.T scientists created PolyflouroEster, a molecule that forms a lightweight barrier on hair to ward off fluff-inducing moisture and eliminate flyaway-causing friction.

The verdict: A-MAZING. I don’t think I’ve EVER been more impressed with a hair product in my entire life. I was skeptical at first, especially when it said that you can’t apply too much product. Really? I’ve never found that statement to be true- especially since my hair is coarse but I don’t have that much hair, so it gets weighed down very easily. So I decide to follow the instructions and have faith…after blow drying, I was truly astounded. My hair, which I normally have to blow dry and then flat iron to get the frizz out, was almost completely frizz-free. No joke.

This life-changing product comes in several different formulations depending on your hair type and whether or not you want curly or straight hair. $24 each on QVC.com
**They will also be available at Sephora and Sephora.com starting February 15th!

$295 For This?

So I saw this post on FabSugar and I immediately laughed out loud. I’m not knocking Vera Wang but why would anyone ever pay $295 for this bracelet? Really?

You can easily make this bracelet. All you need is half a yard of tulle from any craft store and some rhinestones that you can hot glue on the tulle. Actually, if you wanted to get a little fancier, you could use a vintage brooch to give it a little antique feel.

Act Now: Baskin Robbins!

So it’s no secret that I love ice cream and now Baskin Robbins is totally going to make me fat because TODAY if you show proof of your gym membership (at participating locations), you get a FREE scoop of BRight Choices, the chain’s selection of low-calorie, low fat, and sugar-free ice cream and frozen yogurt…I guess I can’t feel too guilty about that. Who doesn’t want ice cream when it’s snowing?! LOL.

Paris Hilton…Creative?

So she had her moment in the sun when she was the A-list “it girl” and now…I’m not going to go as far that she’s not A-list but there’s a distinct difference between say the Jennifer Garners and Reese Witherspoons of the world vs. the Lauren Conrads, Paris Hiltons and Nicole Richies (not that I don’t love ’em). Anyway, I was quite shocked when I saw this story on Perez about Paris Hilton’s new CRAFT LINE. Apparently it’s going to be craft “kits” to make jewelry, scrapbooking and fabric embellishment. WOW. I just really hope everything isn’t covered in the color pink and tiny little dogs.

She’s going to be attending the Craft & Hobby Assosciation 2009 Winter Convention & Tradeshow in Anaheim, CA (hometown of my Gwen Stefani!) on January 25th for an hour between 2 and 3PM for anyone in the area!

Thoughts?
